Manga Review | That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Trinity in Tempest Volume 1 by Tae Tono
This was such a cute read! I haven’t read That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime before but I’d heard lots of good things about it so I was looking forward to diving into this spin-off.
There were many scenes which were pretty cute and had me giggling, I think it’s a great little introduction to the main story too as it shows so many different characters, will definitely be checking it out at some point.
Read on for my full review of the first volume.

Review
This was such a cute read! I haven’t read or watched That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime (‘TTIGRAAS’) before but I’d heard lots of good things about it so I was looking forward to diving into this.
The first volume largely followed Phos from the beginning, a fox girl with a tail that another of the main characters, Nemu (a harpy) is pretty much in love with cause of its fluffiness. Phos has been sent to Tempest to see what it’s like, and straight away she’s shocked at how it isn’t a case of survival of the fittest like where she’s from.
I had to read up a little on TTIGRAAS and found that Rimiru is a human who’s ended up in the magical kingdom as a slime, so I guess it’s no surprise that his kingdom follows basic good humanity traits like letting anyone earn money as long as they work.
The next of the Trinity themselves we meet is Stella, and she’s visiting the kingdom to learn ways to please the head of her kingdom. Phos is initially wary of her, since she’s part of a guard services, but she lets her worries fall away as soon as she realises she’s just there to observe the kingdom too.
Nemu arrives toward the end and she seems like a pretty lazy character, she doesn’t want to work at all. In the end she ends up working to pay off a debt and it turns out she’s good at what she has to do, so gets offered a job there full-time.
There were many scenes which were pretty cute and had me giggling, I think it’s a great little introduction to the main story too as it shows so many different characters, will definitely be checking it out at some point.
The artwork was likewise very cute on the whole, and I think if I was already a fan of TTIGRAAS then I’d have really loved it. In the end, it doesn’t quite have enough happening for me as a whole volume, hence the 3.5 rating.
